Life in Purple Crayon

The theme for my blog – “Life in Purple Crayon” was part inspired by a Star Wars knock off that can be seen on YouTube.  It’s called “Episode III: A Lost Hope” and has a scene in which the Emperor is seducing Anakin away with a picture allegedly drawn by Obi-Wan and Padme.  When Anakin confronts Obi-Wan he cries, “It’s right here clear as purple crayon!” in reference to Obi-Wans signature.

Though a cute story about a dysfunctional Star Wars universe, just like the real movie it points to the ongoing war between evil and good, and the lies evil uses to sway a point of view.

Life is largely about perception but even more to the core – life is about choices.  A struggle to believe what one knows is true in spite of overwhelming lies to the contrary.  I feel at times that my life is a perfect illustration of that scene in the movie, where at times I yell, “It’s right here, clear as purple crayon!” only to have God shine His truth on the lies that the evil one has been sending my way.

We all have choices.  Do we choose to listen to “The Emperor”, or do we choose to look past the blatant lies layered in the purple crayon?

He is our Hope, therefore we trust in Him. (Lamentations 3:24)
